How to use the Keyboard Tester
Press keys to check that every key on your keyboard works, with key codes.
- 1 Click the page, then press each key.
- 2 Pressed keys light up and turn green once tested.
- 3 Check the tested count and the recent keys list, and click Reset to start again.
Example and practical tips
After spilling a drink, press every key: any key that never turns green is not registering and may need cleaning or replacing.
Frequently asked questions
Why don’t Fn or media keys show?
Laptop Fn keys and some media keys are handled by the keyboard or operating system and never reach the browser.
What is the difference between key and code?
Key is the character typed (it depends on the layout), and code is the physical key position.
