This Privacy Policy explains what information ToolzHive ("we", "us") collects when you use our website and tools, how we and our advertising partners use it, and the choices you have.

1. The content you use with our tools

Almost every ToolzHive tool runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. When you paste text, format code, convert colors, edit images or merge PDFs, that content is processed on your own device.

• For these tools, your text, images, files and tool results are not uploaded to our servers. A few tools need an online service to work; they are listed in section 7.
• We do not store, read, analyze or share the content you put into tools.
• When you close or reload the page, the content is gone unless you saved it yourself.

2. Information stored on your device

We use your browser's local storage for a few conveniences:

• your light or dark theme preference,
• the list of tools you marked as favorites,
• the currency you chose in financial calculators,
• your draft in the Resume Builder, so you can continue later, and
• the star ratings you gave to tools.

This information stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

3. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies that keep the website working:

• a session cookie that keeps the website working and secures forms, and
• a security (CSRF) token that protects forms such as the contact form against forgery.

We also show advertising from Google AdSense, which uses advertising cookies and similar technologies. These are described in section 4. Where the law requires it, such as in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, advertising cookies are only used after you give consent through the consent message shown on our site, and you can change your choice at any time.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

ToolzHive is free because it is supported by ads served by Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Google and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location and how you interact with ads, to show, measure and improve ads and to prevent fraud.
• Where you have not consented to personalized ads, or where personalized ads are not allowed, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which use limited cookies or identifiers for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.

Your choices:

• You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in My Ad Center (Google Ads Settings).
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Ads will still appear, but they will be less relevant to you.

5. Information you send us

If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic, subject and message you provide, together with your IP address (used only to prevent spam and abuse). We use this information solely to read and reply to your message. We keep messages only as long as needed to handle your request and then delete them.

If you rate a tool, we store your star rating with an anonymous key derived from your IP address, so each visitor has one vote per tool. The key cannot be turned back into your IP address. If you report an issue with a tool, we receive the reason, your description, the email address if you choose to give one, and your IP address (used only to prevent abuse). We use reports solely to fix problems and, if you left an email, to reply.

6. Server logs

Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure may automatically record standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. These logs are used only to keep the service secure, diagnose problems and prevent abuse, and they are retained for a limited period.

7. Tools that use other services

A few tools need to contact another service to do their job. They only do so when you use that specific tool, and the other service may receive your IP address and standard request information:

• Google Translate and MyMemory: the Language Translator sends the text you enter through our server to these translation services.
• Google Gemini: Chat with PDF reads your PDF in your browser, then sends the extracted text and your questions through our server to Google's Gemini API to write each answer. Your PDF file itself is not uploaded, and we do not store the document text or the conversation. Google processes this data under its Gemini API terms, which may allow it to use data sent through free-tier access to improve its services, so please do not use Chat with PDF for confidential documents.
• Video platforms: the YouTube Thumbnail Grabber, YouTube Embed Code Generator and Vimeo Thumbnail Grabber load images or details for the link you enter from YouTube and Vimeo.
• Cloudflare and Google Public DNS: the DNS Lookup tool sends the domain name you enter from your browser to these DNS resolvers.
• Domain registries: the Domain Age Checker looks up the domain you enter in the public RDAP records published by domain registries.
• Websites you audit: the Website SEO Audit makes our server visit the public website you enter, like a search engine would.
• Our server: the Whirlpool, RIPEMD-160 and Bcrypt hash generators send the text you enter to our server to be hashed, and What Is My IP Address asks our server for the IP address it sees. This data is not stored.
• Google Fonts: the Text to Handwriting Converter and Google Fonts Pair Finder load fonts from Google Fonts.

These services are governed by the privacy policies of their providers.

8. What we don't do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use the content you put into tools to train AI models, and we do not share it with advertisers.
• We do not build profiles about you ourselves. Advertising personalization is handled by Google as described in section 4, and you can turn it off.

9. How we protect information

We use HTTPS encryption, access controls and other reasonable safeguards to protect the limited information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

10. Children

ToolzHive is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete any personal information you sent us through the contact form or a tool report. You can withdraw your consent to advertising cookies at any time through the consent message on our site or your browser settings. Depending on where you live, for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California, you may have additional rights. To make a request, choose "Privacy request" on the contact page.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
