How to use the Tip Calculator
Calculate a tip and split the total across a chosen number of people.
- 1 Enter Bill amount and select a tip preset or Custom tip %.
- 2 Set People and choose whether to Round each share up.
- 3 Review Tip, Total and the per-person amounts.
Example and practical tips
For a bill of 100 with a 15% tip split between five people, the total is 115 and each equal share is 23 before rounding.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tool decide whether tax should be included?
No. Enter the amount on which you want to calculate the tip. It does not separate tax or service charges.
Why can rounded shares add to more than the bill?
Rounding each person’s share upward can intentionally increase the combined amount. Check the final total.
