How to use Black Screen

  1. Pick black or another dark color.
  2. Click Open full screen.
  3. Press Esc or click to close it.

Worked example

In a dark room, open the black screen at full brightness to check a new monitor for backlight bleed at the corners.

Does a black screen save power?

On OLED screens, yes, because black pixels are off. On LCD screens the backlight stays on.

Is this the same as turning the screen off?

No. The screen stays on and the computer stays awake.
