How to Use Hash Generator

Generate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes from text online. Free hash generator for checksums and testing, runs in your browser.

About this tool

Compute text digests with MD5 and several SHA algorithms.

How to use Hash Generator

  1. Enter Text to hash exactly as it should be processed.
  2. Choose Uppercase output if the receiving system expects uppercase hexadecimal.
  3. Copy the digest for the required algorithm.

Worked example

Hash the same short text twice to confirm a reproducible digest, then add a space to see the result change.

Can a hash be decoded back to the text?

A hash is not a reversible text encoding. This tool does not recover the original text from a digest.

Should I store passwords with a raw digest from this tool?

No. Password storage needs a dedicated password-hashing scheme and appropriate parameters; this is a text digest utility.
