About this tool
Crop images freely or to popular aspect ratios like 1:1 and 16:9.
How to use Image Cropper
- Choose an image, then select Free or an aspect ratio such as 1:1, 16:9 or 9:16.
- Move the crop selection over the part you want to keep and drag the corner handles. Use X, Y, Width and Height for numerical adjustments.
- Check the selection and click Download cropped image. Use the resizer afterward if you need specific final pixel dimensions.
Worked example
Choose 1:1 to prepare a square profile picture. Center the subject inside the selection, leave room around the face and download. A square ratio controls proportions, not a fixed output size.
What is the difference between cropping and resizing?
Cropping removes areas outside the selection. Resizing changes pixel dimensions of the entire image. Crop first when changing composition, then resize for a required output size.
Can I make a vertical crop from a landscape image?
Yes. Choose 9:16 and position the selection around the subject. A narrow crop discards much of the original width, so inspect what remains before downloading.
Will this replace the original file?
No. The tool downloads a separate cropped image. Keep the original when you may want to adjust the composition later.
