How to Use IPv6 Compatibility Checker

Check whether a website supports IPv6: its web, www, nameserver and mail server addresses are tested for AAAA records, with an overall readiness score.

About this tool

Check whether a website supports IPv6 for its web, mail and DNS servers.

How to use IPv6 Compatibility Checker

  1. Enter the domain name.
  2. Click Check IPv6.
  3. See which services have IPv6 addresses and which are IPv4 only.

Worked example

google.com scores 100% because its website, nameservers and mail servers all have AAAA records. A site with only IPv4 web servers cannot be reached by IPv6-only networks without translation.

What is an AAAA record?

The DNS record that holds an IPv6 address, just as an A record holds an IPv4 address.

Does this test my own connection?

No. It checks the domain’s DNS records. Your own connection’s IPv6 support is shown by your IP address tools.
