About this tool

Calculate a percentage of a value, one value as a percentage of another, or percentage change.

How to use Percentage Calculator

  1. Choose the panel that matches your question.
  2. Enter X and Y, or the From and To values.
  3. Read the result and verify that the baseline is the one you intended.

Worked example

A change from 80 to 100 is a 25% increase, while 20% of 100 is 20.

Are percentage change and percentage points the same?

No. A rate moving from 10% to 15% increases by five percentage points but by 50% relative to the original rate.

What if the baseline is zero?

A relative percentage using zero as the denominator is undefined. Choose another way to describe that change.
