About this tool

Compare two text versions and inspect added, removed and unchanged lines.

How to use Text Diff Checker

  1. Paste the earlier version into Original text and the revision into Changed text.
  2. Choose Ignore case or Ignore leading/trailing spaces if those differences should be ignored.
  3. Click Compare texts and review the highlighted lines and totals.

Worked example

Compare a two-line draft with a revision containing an extra line to locate the addition.

Does this compare meaning?

No. It compares textual differences rather than the meaning or correctness of the writing.

Will moved lines be recognized as moves?

A moved line may appear as a removal and an addition. Review the surrounding text before interpreting the counts.
