How to Use UUID Generator

Generate random UUID v4 identifiers in your browser. Create up to 1,000 IDs, choose uppercase, hyphens or braces, and copy the full list.

About this tool

Generate random version 4 UUIDs in bulk.

How to use UUID Generator

  1. Enter a quantity from 1 to 1,000 under How many?
  2. Choose uppercase, hyphens and optional braces to match the format expected by your application. Changing an option generates a new list.
  3. Click Generate for another batch or Copy all to copy the current IDs, one per line.

Worked example

A standard UUID has five groups of hexadecimal characters separated by hyphens. Leave Hyphens enabled for systems expecting that standard representation; remove them only when the receiving system accepts compact IDs.

Which UUID version does this generate?

This tool generates random version 4 UUIDs using the browser’s crypto.randomUUID function. It does not generate time-ordered UUID versions.

Does changing the format keep the same IDs?

No. Quantity and formatting changes regenerate the entire list. Copy any IDs you need to keep before changing those controls.

Why might generation fail on a local site?

The tool depends on the browser crypto.randomUUID API, which requires a supported browser and a secure context. Use HTTPS for the deployed website.
