How to Use Whirlpool Hash Generator

Generate the 512-bit Whirlpool hash of any text online and compare it with a known hash. Free Whirlpool generator using the ISO-standard algorithm.

About this tool

Whirlpool is a cryptographic hash function designed by Vincent Rijmen, co-creator of AES, and Paulo Barreto. It produces a 512-bit hash written as 128 hexadecimal characters and is adopted in the ISO/IEC 10118-3 standard. Browsers do not include Whirlpool, so the text is hashed on our server with PHP and nothing is stored.

How to use Whirlpool Hash Generator

  1. Type or paste your text.
  2. Wait a moment for the 128-character Whirlpool hash to appear, then copy it.
  3. Paste a known hash into the compare box to check a match.

Worked example

Hashing an empty string with Whirlpool gives a result starting with 19fa61d75522a4669b44e39c1d2e1726, a quick way to check other implementations.

Can a Whirlpool hash be decrypted?

No. Hashing is one-way: there is no key to reverse it. Short or common inputs can sometimes be found by guessing and comparing hashes, which is why hashes alone should not protect passwords.

Why does a tiny change give a completely different hash?

Hash functions are designed so that changing even one character, or its case, changes the output completely. That makes them good for spotting any modification to data.

What is Whirlpool used for?

Some file integrity tools, TrueCrypt and VeraCrypt key derivation and systems that follow the ISO/IEC 10118-3 standard. SHA-256 and SHA-512 are far more common today.
