How to Use Cement Calculator

Work out cement bags, sand, aggregate and water for a concrete volume and mix ratio such as 1:1.5:3 (M20) or 1:2:4 (M15), from dimensions or volume.

About this tool

Work out cement, sand and aggregate quantities for a concrete mix ratio.

How to use Cement Calculator

  1. Enter the dimensions or the volume of concrete.
  2. Choose the mix ratio for the job.
  3. Read the cement bags, sand, aggregate and water.

Worked example

One cubic meter of M20 (1:1.5:3) concrete needs about 8 bags of 50 kg cement, 0.42 m³ of sand and 0.84 m³ of aggregate.

Why multiply by 1.54?

Dry materials shrink when water is added and voids fill, so about 54% more dry volume is needed.

Which mix should I use?

M20 (1:1.5:3) suits slabs and beams, M15 (1:2:4) general work and 1:3:6 foundations and floors.
