About this tool

Extract PubMed IDs from text and links, remove duplicates and open them in PubMed.

How to use PMID Extractor

  1. Paste text that contains PMIDs or PubMed links.
  2. Choose duplicates, sorting and the output format.
  3. Copy the list, download it or open all the records in PubMed.

Worked example

“PMID: 33782057” and “https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33301246/” give 33782057 and 33301246, or 33782057[pmid] OR 33301246[pmid] as a query.

What is the difference between a PMID and a PMCID?

A PMID identifies a PubMed record. A PMCID (starting PMC) identifies a free full-text copy in PubMed Central. Both are shown.

Why are plain numbers ignored?

Page numbers and years look like IDs. Tick the option to count lines that contain only a number.
